Rep. Jen Kiggans, R-VA02, a top target for Democrats in the 2026 midterm elections, announced her fundraising haul for the first quarter of this year.
Kiggans announced that her campaign raised over $1.1 million during the three months of 2025 and ended with over $1 million cash-on-hand.
“I’m honored by the outpouring of support I’ve seen over the last few months,” said Kiggans. “Virginians know I’ve been hard at work delivering on the issues that matter most – securing the Southern Border, protecting our military families and our veterans, restoring strength abroad, and fixing our economy. I am deeply honored to represent the people of Hampton Roads in Congress, and I’ll never stop fighting for the families who sent me here.”
The DCCC recently announced that Kiggans is a top target, along with Rob Wittman, R-VA01.
“Rob Wittman and Jen Kiggans are running scared, and they should be,” said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene. “From tanking the economy, gutting Medicaid, abandoning our veterans, to making everything more expensive, they’ve broken their promises to Virginians, and it’s going to cost them their seats.”
Kiggans is a former Navy helicopter pilot and geriatric nurse. She was elected to the state Senate in 2019 to represent part of Virginia Beach.
Without cozying up to the Trump-MAGA base in 2022, Kiggans convinced voters to elect her by a three-point margin over Rep. Elaine Luria, making her the only Virginia Republican to flip a Democratic-held seat in 2022. She also had some assistance from the redistricting process that made VA-02 friendlier to Republicans than in previous elections.
While she kept Trump at arm’s length in 2022, she received his full endorsement in 2024.
Kiggans was reelected in 2024, defeating Missy Cotter Smasal by four percentage points.
With more than 18 months until election day, no Democrats have officially announced their candidacy in VA-02.
The DCCC has already begun fundraising in the district, setting up donation pages that direct contributions to the eventual nominee.
“The DCCC is already working to recruit authentic and battle-ready candidates in Virginia who reflect these districts and will work to better Virginians’ lives, not line Elon Musk and their DC party bosses’ pockets,” DelBene said.
