Petersburg Police say that they are assisting in an investigation after an officer-involved shooting that took place at the Wawa in the 3100 block of Crater Road.
Virginia State Police is running the investigation with the assistance of Petersburg Police. They say that the incident stemmed from an abduction that took place in Sussex County.
Officers were on the lookout for the vehicle and spotted it eventually with both Prince George and Petersburg confronting the suspects at Wawa. Prince George officers fired the shots that struck the suspect.
The suspect then fled to nearby apartments before being apprehended and transported down the street to Southside Regional Medical Center.
Officials have not released any other details on the officer involved in the shooting other than they work for Prince George Police Department.
