Hopewell school officials alerted the community on Monday that a member of the staff at Hopewell High School has tested positive for COVID-19. According to the notification, the staff member was last at the school on September 23rd.

School leaders have asked anyone that was present at the school on September 21 through September 23rd to monitor their health. They currently do not believe that any students or staff came into close contact with the individual that tested positive.

We will update if this post with any new information we receive. Read the letter from the Superintendent of schools below:

“I’m reaching out to let you know that we have had our first instance in which an employee who was present at a school has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual is a staff member at Hopewell High School and was last at school on September 23rd.  In partnership with the health department, we encourage anyone who was present at the high school on September 21-23 to monitor their symptoms and reach out to their primary care provider if they have any concerns.  Individuals can also contact the Crater Health District’s COVID-19 hotline at 804-862-8989.  If any individuals are identified through the contact tracing process, they will be contacted directly by the health department.  Fortunately, from the information we have received thus far, we do not believe any staff or students were in close enough contact to have been exposed, per the guidance of the health department.   The health and safety of our students, staff, families, and community is our top priority.  We continue to work in close collaboration with Hopewell City and the health department to serve the well-being of the Hopewell community.  Please keep the health of this individual and our community in your thoughts.

If you have any questions, please let us know.
