Update:
Police say that a driver struck a monument in Petersburg on Thursday morning and then fled the scene.
Police say they were called to the intersection of Sycamore Street and North Boulevard around 10:35 a.m.. According to police, when they arrived, they found a black SUV that was abandoned after striking the Doughboy World War 1 Monument.
Officials say that a crane will be arriving soon to place the monument upright and to expect roads around this intersection to be closed for several hours.
