Update:

Sean Perryman, the Chairman of the Fairfax chapter of the NAACP announced Monday morning that he is exploring a run for Lt. Governor of Virginia.

“My motivation for running is the same as my motivation for all the public service I have done over the years: I want to make my community better,” said Perryman in his announcement.

Perryman is currently the Director of Social Impact Policy and Counsel for Internet Association, whose mission is to foster innovation, promote economic growth, and empower people through the free and open internet.

“Across the country, more than 50 million Americans are unemployed. We have witnessed a complete failure of government to protect us,” said Perryman. “I do this amidst a public health crisis with half measures taken at all levels of government. I do this in the backdrop of another night of unrest in Richmond. As our state leaders and those seeking leadership remain silent to the continued abuses of power. If I run for Lieutenant Governor, I will do so as a Democrat but I will not put party loyalty over people.”

Virginia state Delegate Hala Ayala has already officially announced her candidacy for LG while Delegate Elizabeth Guzman and Norfolk city Councilwoman Andrea McClellan have both announced that they are exploring a run.
