The Republican lieutenant governor nominee Winsome Sears and other prominent Virginia Republicans are attending an event with the former Trump administration official Steve Bannon.

Bannon helped propel Trump to office in 2016 and was with the administration during the early days of the Trump presidency. He left after serving for eight months as a top advisor to the president.

Trump pardoned Bannon for fraud charges during his final moments in office.

The event is being hosted by conservative talk show host and former Virginia Trump campaign chair John Fredericks.

In addition to Sears, state Senator Amanda Chase, state Senator Bill Stanley, and Del. Terry Kilgore are listed on the flyer. Attorney general nominee Jason Miyares was originally shown on the flyer, but his name was removed and a new flyer was circulated. Miyares and the organizers both say that it was a miscommunication and Miyares never committed to attending the event.

While Fredericks confirmed that Sears will be attending the event, the Sears campaign did not respond to requests for confirmation.

Fredericks said he is inviting all of the state legislators to the event. “Get Fired Up Meet candidates! Have cocktails and mingle with fellow Patriots,” the flyer reads. “Hear from a star-studded line-up of speakers and learn how you can help with campaigns!”

The event is scheduled to take place in Glen Allen on Oct. 13.
