Former Governor of Virginia Terry McAuliffe is gearing up to officially launch his campaign. After foregoing a presidential run in 2020, rumors almost immediately began swirling that he would try and enter the race for Governor. In recent months, McAuliffe has been building a staff and preemptively removed himself from consideration for a position in President-elect Joe Biden’s cabinet.
Several sources say that McAuliffe will officially be jumping into the race in early-December, within the first two weeks.
Senator Jennifer McClellan (D) and Delegate Jennifer Carol (D) Foy have already officially announced their candidacy for Governor. Delegate Lee Carter says he is also strongly considering a run.
