Hampton Police are investigating after they say an 18-year-old man was shot Monday evening.

At approximately 4:54 p.m., Hampton’s Public Safety Communications received a call in reference to a shooting that had just occurred in the 1400 block of West Queen Street.

Officers say that they located an 18-year-old male victim who had been struck by gunfire when they arrived on scene. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

His condition has since been upgraded to stable.

Police say that they believe the victim was sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven convenience store when two male suspects entered the vehicle. One of the suspects then shot the victim and both suspects fled the area on foot. The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation and there is no suspect information to disseminate at this time.
